The other half of the meme comes from the behavior of King Harlaus of the Swadians. This lead to people posting screenshots of them attacking Swadian villages and getting literally dozens of units of butter in the resulting loot. A popular modpack, Floris, has (or used to have, don't know if it's been fixed) a bug where a village produces and stockpiles a ridiculous amount of a commodity without trading it off to the nearest city, as it's supposed to.
